Data Engineer

Fulltime · Groningen (Groningen)

We are looking for a data engineer to take on the challenges in the field of data together with us. Are you enthusiastic about the combination of data, architecture and integration? Join the team!

What are you going to do?

As a Data Engineer at the Bencom Group, you work on further developing and maintaining the data infrastructure that forms the basis for all data science, analytics, automation and visualization projects. You ensure that the various internal and external data sources are integrated reliably and efficiently into our central storage system in Azure.

You are responsible for creating, improving and monitoring a large number of data pipelines. It’s required to have experience with Azure Cloud, and specifically with Azure Data Lake and Azure Synapse; or you need to be able to master this very quickly. This because you must be able to do ETL (Extract-Transform-Load of data) using the language Pyspark on Azure Synapse notebooks. In this process you are responsible for the data security of every data ETL that you might build.

Within this role you work closely with your colleagues (Olle, Nadim and Ronny). You will join daily stand-up meetings about project progress, challenges and possible solutions. In addition, it is important that you are aware of the latest technologies and concepts and implement them when they have added value. Continuous learning is important, as it is essential to stay ahead in the ever-evolving data landscape.

Working as a data engineer: The day typically kicks off with a thorough review of data pipelines and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure seamless data flow. Troubleshooting and optimizing existing pipelines are integral, requiring a keen eye for identifying bottlenecks and implementing enhancements. You will spend most of your time designing, developing and maintaining robust data infrastructure. Whether it's integrating new data sources, managing data storage solutions or implementing data security architectures; the work demands a meticulous approach to maintain data accuracy, integrity and security. The day culminates with a reflection on accomplishments and planning for the next steps which can be done in our organizational board.
